AP Coordinator / High School Team Lead
Reports To: Academic Principal
Position Overview
The AP Coordinator / High School Team Lead provides academic and organizational leadership for the high school division, supporting teachers, students, and the Academic Principal in achieving excellence in learning and teaching. This role also manages the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) program, ensuring alignment with College Board standards and smooth exam administration. The position combines instructional leadership, coordination, and classroom teaching responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership & Team Coordination
- Lead and support the high school teaching team, promoting collaboration and effective communication.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, share updates, and coordinate academic initiatives.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and feedback to teachers to enhance instructional quality.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that aligns with SAIS’s mission and values.
- Curriculum & Instruction
- Support the implementation and development of the high school curriculum, ensuring consistency and high standards.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate innovative and inquiry-based teaching methods.
- Use data to monitor student achievement and support continuous improvement.
- AP Coordination
- Serve as the school’s main liaison with the College Board.
- Manage AP course registration, exam ordering, and administration in compliance with College Board policies.
- Provide training, updates, and support to AP teachers on curriculum and exam preparation.
- Advise students and parents on AP course selection, exam expectations, and college credit opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of student registrations, scores, and related documentation.
- Organize AP-related workshops, review sessions, and student recognition events.
- Student Support & Engagement
- Monitor student progress, attendance, and well-being in collaboration with counselors and teachers.
- Promote leadership, service, and extracurricular opportunities for high school students.
- Support behavior expectations and contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment.
- Administration & Communication
- Develop and oversee the high school schedule and course offerings.
- Ensure timely communication with staff, students, and parents regarding academic matters.
- Support school-wide events, open days, and marketing or admissions activities.
- Assist in implementing and upholding school policies and accreditation standards.
- Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach a minimum of 15 periods per week Economics, including After School Activities (ASA).
- Model effective teaching and maintain high academic standards in assigned subjects.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience (including AP or international curriculum preferred).
- Experience in coordination, leadership, or curriculum management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with College Board systems and AP procedures.
Working Conditions
- Standard school hours, with occasional evenings or weekends during AP exam periods or school events.
